Born in Egypt and based in Dubai, the multiple award-winning calligrapher, muralist, and live art performer Diaa Allam is known for integrating Arab calligraphy in daily life and contemporary art. Diaa’s artworks may be seen on the parts of the city landscape, in digital design, and lifestyle objects, like cars, notebooks, and bags, among others. Being passionate about calligraphy since a very young age, Diaa has issued a book of 40 designs in calligraphy for the 40th National Day of the UAE. The journey of the artist has taken him into the fashion industry – Diaa collaborated with names like Bvlgari, Chopard, The Dubai Mall, and many more, followed by publications in AMOR magazine and renowned local sources, like Gulf News UAE, World Art Dubai, and others. Driven by urban planning and landscape architecting, Diaa gets his artistic perspective from working outside of the studio, unlike other artists, by observing his surroundings.

Calligraphy. Face. Sheikh

JOINED FORCES, UAE AND ISRAEL – is a collaboration with contemporary calligrapher Diaa Allam based in Dubai, UAE. In an itemized partnership with FOXYLAB NY, Diaa Allam’s mural-like ornaments were hand-painted on two pieces, featuring thorough multicolor curves.

Catching the beat of peaceful alliance of fashion and politics, we launched this partnership to celebrate joined forces of Israel and UAE fashion magazines.

For the February issue of the top Israeli magazine La’Isha (@laishamag), we have joined visions with Emirati Diaa Allam, whose art derives from a contemporary approach towards the traditional cultural heritage of UAE. The skyline of Dubai, the artist’s hometown, was recreated on one of the two classic dresses by FOXYLAB NY for an exclusive editorial feature in La’isha. The piece was worn by Kenya-born Chanel Ayan, successfully-established in the Middle East, and therefore representing UAE on the second cover, that appears on the flip side of Israeli magazine. An ambitious initiative to make a cover story with Chanel Ayan was taken in return to a Yael Shelbia’s, 19, appearance in L’officiel Arabia, therefore emphasizing a peaceful rapport of the two countries and introduction of new business opportunities.

Both Chanel, and Yael wear a piece from FOXYLAB, highlighting the dual collaboration of FOXYLAB with representatives of the two countries, that participated in the overall peaceful political initiative, Talia Zoref, Israel, and Diaa Allam, UAE.
