How did collaboration with 3×3 basketball player influence your artistic style?
These players are extremely talented, they have a way they move on the court. Their handling is very rhythmic. As an artist I strive to show a range of motion in my works. However, the beauty lies in the balance! With right amount of balance, a rhythmic sequence comes to life in the most beautiful way.
For your artwork, Dominique provided several references, which one became central in you final design?
I have a very understanding family that understands my passions and what needs to be done to obtain my goals. So my sacrifices are theirs as well.
How did the culture of Harlem influence your personal style?
I decided to use 3 primary references for the final design:
Basketball – Domo’s amazing talent and his gift to the world. However, he has shown that it takes a tremendous amount of hard work and dedication to excel the way he has in this competitive sport.
Harlem NY — This is where Domo is from. His background and roots stem from streets of Harlem. While Harlem is iconic, it’s not an easy place to grow up. Domo has shown a tremendous amount of focus on what is important in order to steer clear of some of the enticing distractions a neighborhood like Harlem can propose. His tremendous sense of fashion could have also been a product of his environment. Harlem is very fashion forward.
Family — of highest importance to Domo and myself. Everything we do we do for our family. Domo is also a father and a role model.
You collaborated with FOXYLAB NY before, transforming one of your significant art-pieces into a garment design. How was this project different from collaboration with Domo?
What characteristics of FOXYLAB NY are the closest to your personal artistic identity?
Evoking a high-end, luxury look while still maintaining the urban feel.
Domo mentioned that he is from Harlem, and it influences his style a lot. Do you think you could draw more inspiration from Harlem to your future artwork?
Absolutely, Harlem is iconic when it comes to fashion, music and art. I am not from Harlem, but I believe it has played a role in my upbringing and inspiration sources in one way or another.
What do you think about street style fashion?
I believe fashion is a form of expression. When it comes to street style, it becomes one of its dialogs.
Name 3 things that street fashion and street art have in common.
I believe they are both, a form of expression, avant-garde and very stimulating.

A thin edge of seduction and the consumerism fetish is thoroughly blurred in Acosta’s art in the use of both light, and dark tones. Bold lines serve as a fashionable juxtaposition of a peaceful dream-like state and a vivid color, representing action and presence in the moment.
