You are based in Berlin, did the city affect your artistic style?
Growing up in Berlin as a child of Vietnamese immigrants and spending most of my adult time in the US and Asia, I was able to absorb many different cultures and environments. Every city I lived in contributed to my current style and work ethic. Germany helped me a lot to stay consistent, there I was able to work on my routine of creating art. I enjoyed being independent in the US which can be reflected in my drawing style where I prefer not to use any sketches or outlines in order to stay as flexible as possible. Taipei City is a very dynamic and fast city so I adopted speed into my art in order to finish one art piece within short hours instead of days.
Describe your artistic style in three words.
Universal, borderless, bright.
In your opinion, how is your artistic style relevant to street style fashion?
One of the main characteristics of street style is the separation from mainstream fashion. There is no pressure to keep up with current fashion trends, because it is more based on individualism. It belongs to the people, the average person, like you and me, and each individual is allowed to express themselves in their own and unique way. My art style is based on exactly the same values. Self-expression, the art of self-love.
One of the biggest post-covid fashion trends is athleisure. What do you think about it?
I love this trend and the idea of mixing sportswear and leisurewear. It is simply another way of expressing yourself while we all become more conscious of health and well-being. So I think athleisure is here to stay.
If you were a fashion designer, what would the style of your brand be like?
Minimalistic, but at the same time sophisticated.
Describe your collaboration with Ulyana. Did you experience anything new comparing to your normal artistic process? What was different?
It was an amazing experience working with Ulyana. She is very kind and open to new ideas. I can tell she is a very ambitious person, as I was always able to expect feedback within minutes. Working with someone else other than myself is always a challenge. Taking another person’s ideas and thoughts into consideration as well as the person’s background and preferences is not easy but with Ulyana it became a very comfortable process. She knew what she wanted and was very open at the same time. I am super grateful for having gotten a chance to work with such an amazing athlete and an inspiring fashion brand that made this collaboration possible. Thank you!

A thin edge of seduction and the consumerism fetish is thoroughly blurred in Acosta’s art in the use of both light, and dark tones. Bold lines serve as a fashionable juxtaposition of a peaceful dream-like state and a vivid color, representing action and presence in the moment.
