Tell us the story about how you discovered yourself as an illustrator and collagist (do we say collagist?)
When I was a child I loved any kind of illustrated storybooks, I had like 10 versions of Cinderella with artworks of different artists. Then I study graphic design at the college and I discover that I can do illustrations for living. Then I figured out that I love music and fashion and I wanted to bring some art on them, so I went on those directions and those are the both industries that I work actually.
For a photographer, it all starts with a composition. What does it start with for you? Describe your work process. How do you masterpieces come to life?
It’s so difficult to share, when I’m doing an artwork, I feel that I’m into a bubble and nobody can take me out of there. I let my hand and mind flow, because when I think so much about it, my head gets blocked.
Have you ever heard about «the fear of a blank page»? «The page» causes anxiety because it’s filled with endless possibilities. Have you ever experienced this in you work, when you look at an initial picture and can’t do anything because there’re so many things you can do?
My mind it’s always creating things, I’m a very visual guy, so if you tell me something I start immediately to see visions on my head of how I see your words and when I’m with anxiety that’s bigger. I felt that fear when I was really tired, but I listen some music and my head started to work again.
Scrolling down your IG feed, we noticed that one of the most repetitive elements in your collages is eyes. Is there a reason for that? Are there any other hidden repetitive elements that you incorporate in you works?
I love people eyes, of all the colors and shapes, I love how we can express with our eyes, sometimes speaks before the mouth and that’s why I used them so much. Sometimes I use catholic elements, because I was in a catholic school when I was a child and i had tons of questions that my teachers never knew how to answered me. I love big hairs, lips and how the body can express things using the arms.
Your collages are very unique and eye-catching, Do you plan on taking your art to metaverse and issuing some NFT’s?
I don’t know so much about NFT, I would love to study more of them to have an opinion.
Share your opinion about NFT’s? Do you see good development opportunities in the metaverse? Explain, please.
I would love to read more about it to have a real opinion, but everything that is an advance for the society, I’m into it.
In your IG we also noticed a limited collection of T-shirts with your designs? Have you had any other fashion design-related projects. Do you like working in this field
Yes, I recently launched my first T-Shirts collection in a retail store. I was so happy to bring my art to more people. Last year I launched my first fashion illustrations book and It was all about paper dolls, so I designed all the outfits of the characters of the book. I really love fashion, I love express how I feel on what I wear, I had some projects on my mind, I would love to have my own fashion collection soon.

It’s all about flow and doing whatever you want to show to the people. There’s no ugly art, there’s no bad or good form to create, it’s something you decide, how you express your feelings. Work hard and don’t give up, maybe you will hear a ton of “NO’s” but you must keep working until you make it.
Any personal news you’d like to share with the audience?
I’m working doing my own editorials for social media, but soon I will start working on my second book and I’m working on my next exhibition. Maybe for March or April. Stay tuned on my social media guys! (*Editor’s note: currently Diego’s social profile is blocked, and we’re seeking his comeback as much as you do after reading this interview)

A thin edge of seduction and the consumerism fetish is thoroughly blurred in Acosta’s art in the use of both light, and dark tones. Bold lines serve as a fashionable juxtaposition of a peaceful dream-like state and a vivid color, representing action and presence in the moment.
