Daria came to the French capital one and a half year ago under the  “Passport Talent” (type of visa granted “to persons that are likely to make a significant or lasting contribution through their skills and talents in the development of French economy, as well as its culture, science, sports, directly or indirectly”).

Meanwhile this emerging fashion and art photographer has 15 years experience and a very clear goal in mind. Extremely talented, ambitious and determined she is about to conquer Paris with her unique vision, professionalism and positive mind set (thanks to her Buddhistic underground).

Her signature style, significantly inspired by Peter Lindbergh is a meeting place between art and commercial photography.

Why did you choose Paris and not New York or London to live and work?

It was a love not from first, but from the second sight, my first visit in Paris was with my boyfriend who made me a proposal.

Second one was like returning after our divorce. It was April,  Paris was gentle and for the first time I felt that finally I’m home.

Now, when you have got a reputation in Paris, can you tell us what was the most challenging when you arrived? Was it tough to “conquer” the fussy French market?

I would not tell that I have a reputation and that I conquered French market yet, I’m still on my way, but I know where I wanna go.

The most challenging was lack of language and not knowing cultural codes, and France is very very reach in it.

And I had a fear to not be diplomatic enough in communication.

What is the most important in a job of photographer in order to succeed?

Self respect, self confidence and persistence.

Going thought your works one can notice the incredible light effects as one of your signature features. How do you get this singular effect? Do you use some special techniques or is it an inner feeling you are gifted?

It’s years of endless practice, there is no special techniques here, just work, attentiveness, observation.

Who of the legends in photography and art do/did influence your style?

Definitely it’s Peter Lindbergh, I admire his work and kindness a lot, and was lucky enough to meet him in this life.

Where do you draw your inspiration?

In my heart and in the eyes of the person in front of me.

Can you evoke one of few of your shoots/campaigns which were particularly remarkable?

It was my personal project “The Roots”, for me it was my biggest self-journey ever. Diving in my family tree, my roots, my empowerment. After this project I was brave enough to leave my home country and started living my life from scratch once more.

Models are also humans: how do you get them into the mood if the mutuel feeling is not “au rendez-vous”?

Honestly, I don’t remember when I had such a problems in the shooting, all models that I used to work with were super professional and open.

I truly believe that we attract the same people that we are ourselves.

Can you share with us an advice for young creatives who have just stepped into the profession?

Don’t stop believing in yourself, love what you do, know what you exactly want, don’t rush and be kind and patient.

Karma exists.

A thin edge of seduction and the consumerism fetish is thoroughly blurred in Acosta’s art in the use of both light, and dark tones. Bold lines serve as a fashionable juxtaposition of a peaceful dream-like state and a vivid color, representing action and presence in the moment.
