Following a remarkably triumphant debut earlier this year, Arab Fashion Week is poised to make a return for Spring/Summer 2024, coinciding with the conclusion of Paris Fashion Week. Co-founded by the Arab Fashion Council and Dubai Design District, Dubai Fashion Week is set to showcase the zenith of fashion and creativity from the region, firmly establishing its presence on the global fashion calendar, alongside renowned fashion capitals like New York, London, Milan, and Paris.

Dubai Fashion Week 2023 kicked off on Monday with Carolina Herrera unveiling its spring/summer 2024 collection at Dubai Design District. Wes Gordon, the creative director, shared his opinion about the future of fashion in the Middle East specifically his collection’s significance.

Gordon expressed his enthusiasm at the prospect of presenting the collection at Dubai Fashion Week, as Carolina Herrera, a prominent figure in the fashion world, expanded its reach.

Carolina Herrera Collection at Dubai Fashion Week

Carolina Herrera’s fashion event showcased a tribute to Nineties fashion, blending understated everyday wear in vibrant hues with extravagant party dresses featuring layers of tulle, catering to the diverse tastes of the arab region.

He emphasized the brand’s broader scope, encompassing beauty, fragrance, and eyewear, underscoring the arab fashion region’s vital role in their business. Gordon also noted that the collection resonates well with women in the Gulf fashion world,

The collection, a celebration of color, joy, and expressive fashion, was designed for women who seek to stand out and feel extraordinary. Gordon recognized that this mindset aligns with the preferences of women in the Arabic region when shopping and dressing.

The collection featured a variety of timeless yet contemporary pieces, including essential everyday items such as white poplin shirts, pencil skirts, elegant cardigans, and well-tailored blazers.

Gordon drew inspiration from the Nineties, particularly the iconic style of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. He highlighted the magic of combining simple pieces, such as a pencil skirt, a crisp white cotton shirt, beautiful heels, and a cardigan, which can transform a woman into a chic and charismatic figure.

In addition to everyday wear, the collection showcased an array of evening dresses, a significant part of the brand’s portfolio. These included a full-skirted buttercup-yellow dress with a grey sash reminiscent of prom-style fashion and a sequin-drenched strapless gown.

Notably, the collection featured a mini yellow crinoline strapless dress that paid homage to historical silhouettes while infusing a modern twist. The dress’s sculpted bell shape and intricate embroidery gave it a contemporary edge, in contrast to the historical thousand-layer tulle approach.

Overall, everything about Carolina Herrera’s collection was a harmonious blend of fashion and commercial appeal, setting a vibrant tone for Dubai Fashion Week, which continues until October 15 allowing many designers to show the world their collections.

Besides Carolina Herrera, other notable fashion icons, including Moschino and Jean Paul Gaultier, are set to be a part of the upcoming DFW event. This grand showcase isn’t just about style; it’s a catalyst for forging new business connections among talents, brands, and discerning buyers. Additionally, for those seeking a personal style revamp, an array of pop-up stores, workshops, and exclusive activations awaits. The comprehensive schedule can be found on their official website, with some shows designated as invite-only affairs.
