Meta Betties Unveils a New Exhibition for Mental Health Awareness Month. In collaboration with Creatives Care and Foxylab New York, the exhibition features over 40 artists, panel discussions, mental healthcare resources, live performances, and FOXYLAB’s fashion line supporting the Student Mental Health Helpline Act.

To mark Mental Health Awareness Month, Meta Betties, a socially-driven art project, presents Mind Matters, a compelling group exhibition designed to raise awareness and support for emotional well-being through art. This event, held on May 31, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 12:00 AM at The Meta Betties Gallery powered by The Canvas 3.0 at the Oculus at Westfield World Trade Center

About Mind Matters Event

Mind Matters showcases the work of over 40 artists from diverse backgrounds, sharing personal stories and experiences with mental health. This collective narrative aims to foster understanding, compassion, and a sense of community. One standout artist will be awarded a solo exhibition in the gallery, announced live during the event. Unlike previous exhibitions focused on cultural conflicts and social injustices, Mind Matters highlights personal mental health challenges, bringing a deeply human and vulnerable aspect to the event.

The exhibition features a blend of physical and digital art, alongside live performances from global artists. Notable opening acts include Kanami Kusajima, also known as “Let Hair Down,” a New York-based artist renowned for her dance and performance art, and Carlota Perez De Castro, a multidisciplinary artist celebrated for her work in performance, body painting, and traditional painting. This marks their first collaborative performance, setting the stage for the ongoing live art throughout the exhibition.

A unique component of Mind Matters is The Strangers Project, which collects and shares personal stories from people encountered daily, fostering connections and deeper understanding. These stories, spanning all ages and walks of life, will be displayed to highlight the shared human experience.

Meta Betties, founded by artist Blakelee Pieroni, intersects art, fashion, performance, and blockchain technology to drive social change. Meta Betties subverts traditional 1940s pin-up imagery to address contemporary social issues, using art as a tool for activism and community engagement.
