Harper’s artistic journey began in childhood, as he crafted his own dolls and gradually developed his passion into a meticulous practice. After a brief period at the Glasgow School of Art, he took a leap of faith, selling his work online and receiving notable commissions from acclaimed individuals like R&B star Elah Hale and movie director Lee Daniels. These encouraging experiences prompted him to leave art school and dedicate his full focus to his craft.
Using polymer clay, Harper sculpts busts and full figures, placing them within various contexts that range from reimagined myths to intimate scenes. For Harper, this artistic expression is a means of communicating his appreciation of femininity and challenging traditional norms. Growing up, he witnessed the success of his late grandfather, Paul Wynter, a two-time Mr. Universe, yet yearned for him to assume more prominent positions rather than the often assigned “helper” roles.
