Jonathan Anderson is a famous Northern Irish fashion designer whose work rapidly grabbed attention because of the unconventional silhouettes and a different way of thinking about gender and clothing. He founded his own label, JW Anderson in 2008.
And then Anderson’s career changed in 2013 when he became creative director of Loewe and the brand gained a different identity. The brand became a combination of Spanish leather craftsmanship with contemporary art, experimental clothing and a dominant cultural presence.

By 2013, JW Anderson was seen as one of Europe’s most promising designers. The big luxury group LVMH made two key moves. They bought a minority stake in the Anderson brand which gave the young London label access to global supply chains and financial support.
At the same time LVMH appointed the 29-year-old Anderson as Creative Director for Loewe. In 2015 Anderson made fashion history at the British Fashion Awards by winning both Menswear Designer of the Year and Womenswear Designer of the Year in the same ceremony. That never happened in fashion industry before.

The Pierce Bag quickly became a must-have item. It stood out with its look with a prominent metallic barbell ring that pierced through two round cutouts. It blended soft & luxurious leather with tough and punk-style hardware. Its got massive popularity on the street style scenes.

He introduced the bag as part of his focus on traditional craftsmanship. He took a simple market tote and turned it into a globally recognized luxury item. This bag is handwoven from natural palm leaf or raffia, with high-quality calfskin handles and a leather patch featuring the embossed Anagram logo. It effortlessly combines rustic craft with high fashion.

It was a new chapter in his career, and his first collection incorporated Dior’s historic codes with his best approach. Anderson’s collection reflected how he can rearrange history with his own imagination.
It was linked to different things like tweed bar jackets, historically influenced waistcoats, knitwear with embroidery, denim and capes along with reworked accessories were introduced.
Jonathan Anderson just showed in July 2026 his second Haute Couture collection for Dior in Paris. A public exhibition of the collection, “Grammar of Forms,” opened following the show.

Anderson balances high-art intellect with commercial accessibility. By collaborating with various brands like Uniqlo, he changed British heritage aesthetics into clothes that are accessible and functional. His philosophy that fashion must evoke emotion, demand attention and reflect contemporary visual culture that remains the same whether the design is a $3,000 hand-woven leather product or a $40 heattech knit.

Back in 2016, Jonathan Anderson established the LOEWE Foundation Craft Prize. It’s an international award meant to recognize and celebrate new ideas and excellence in modern craftsmanship. He started it because Loewe began in the 1800s as a small team of leather workers.
To remember that past, Anderson decided to offer a €50,000 cash prize for people skilled at making things by hand. This includes items like pottery, wood carvings, textiles, and glass. He wanted to show everyone that these handmade items are as valuable as art you’d see in a gallery.
