Central to this endeavor is KAWS’s iconic creation, COMPANION, an inflatable masterpiece that has traversed numerous global metropolises, captivating hearts and minds along the way. This exciting project, named KAWS:HOLIDAY, was created as a peaceful retreat—a place to look up and escape from the busy world around us.
Indonesia, the enchanting archipelago nation, has become the backdrop for the latest and tenth installment of KAWS:HOLIDAY. AllRightsReserved, orchestrating yet another spellbinding chapter, has brought this captivating spectacle to the serene shores of Indonesia, nestled against the backdrop of the timeless Prambanan temples in the historic city of Yogyakarta. The artistic luminary, KAWS, has once again joined forces with the perennial collaborator, AllRightsReserved, to grace the Prambanan, Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple complex and a distinguished UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a breathtaking monumental sculpture. Facilitated by the steadfast support of the local partner AKG Group, this extraordinary exhibition unveils an enthralling juxtaposition between ancient architectural marvels and contemporary artistry, offering patrons an opportunity to embark on a journey of introspection and contemplation.
In a groundbreaking move, KAWS: HOLIDAY introduces “ACCOMPLICE” anew, a figure of artistic significance that initially materialized as a vinyl creation released by the ingenious KAWS back in 2002. With this reincarnation, the illustrious artist not only rejuvenates a cherished creation but also bestows it with the privilege of gracing the hallowed grounds of a UNESCO World Heritage Site—a first in the annals of KAWS:HOLIDAY’s six-year voyage. This iteration of the artwork spans a staggering length of 45 meters, rendering it the grandest sculptural feat to have ever emerged from the artist’s creative crucible.
