Art has literally been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve always loved to draw – ever since I was five, I was that kid constantly doodling all over my notebooks. My teachers actually noticed my potential early on and entered me into art contests.
I ended up winning second place in a city-wide competition where the prize was having our artwork displayed on the MTA subways! What made it even more special was that my late twin brother, who was also an incredible artist, took first place. We were in the same kindergarten art classes together, and for that contest, he drew the Bronx Zoo while I drew Rockefeller Center. As I grew up, my style shifted.
I moved into digital art, and then at one point, I literally started playing with dirt – I guess I just wanted to try something totally new! That experimentation eventually led me to creating celebrity cereal portraits. Today, I’m experimenting with all kinds of food and ingredients. What started out as a fun hobby has turned into a professional career where I create food portraits and sell prints.

Honestly, inspiration hits me from everywhere! If a song is trending and I love it, I’ll end up making a portrait of the artist. If something goes viral, I want to put my own spin on it using food. Sometimes it just depends on my mood right before a meal.
If I’m making a fruit bowl, I’ll slice everything up to build a cute little food scenery. If it’s spaghetti night, I’ll grab my custom stencils and use the spaghetti sauce to paint a portrait of a musician I’m listening to or a character from a movie I just watched. My actual setup is a fun kind of chaos. I’ll stack up a bunch of dishes to choose the perfect backdrop, keep a reference photo open on my phone, and keep napkins nearby to quickly wipe away any mistakes.
Once the main portrait is done, I love adding final details – like a piece of Italian bread, or extra toppings and add-ons. Then, I move the plate right next to the window to catch that beautiful natural light for the photo. Afterward, I look through the camera, pick the best shots, adjust the lighting and sharpness, and post it to my website and social media. And yes, most of the time, I get to eat my art right after!

Kool write-up! Looks like her answer for question #2 got added twice. Just thought I’d let you know.
