Design Miami shows the world of extraordinary collectible designs of furniture, lighting, jewelry and objects of art by bringing together galleries, designers’ studios, brands, experts, collectors, and industry enthusiasts.

The edition takes place along side Art Basel in Miami each December and Basel, Switzerland, each June. The 18th edition of the fair takes place in Pride Park, opposite the Miami Beach Convention Center.

One can visit the fair and discover the world’s leading galleries under one roof or shop on-line for art objects or art worthy furniture. Design Miami is accessible via designmiami.com, their content-rich digital marketplace.

The theme of this year fair has been chosen by Maria Cristina Didero, a Curatorial Director. The name of the theme is The Golden Age: Looking to the Future. The concept unites experiences across cultures, through time and space, celebrating diverse histories of craft and tradition to shape our shared future.

The Golden Age also refers to the past time of prosperity, it epitomizes hope for the future. It celebrates a tomorrow of our own creation, a source of inspiration to imagine and shape a brighter future for our planet.

We have been visiting Design Miami for nearly 15 years and only missed few years because of Covid. We were thrilled to go back and find so many mindblowing pieces of art, this is the most exqusite fair up to a date.

Below are our highlights.

You have so many tattoos! Is there at least one of them that you drew the sketch for yourself?

In fact, I drew most of my tattoos myself, but almost none of them is in a “petites luxures” style. This one is the only one to have a reference with Petites Luxures: it looks like a peach, but it is meant to be an apple-ass: It was tattooed in Brooklyn in 2019, back when I went to New York for my very first US solo show. I was in “Big Apple” to show my ass drawings, so it became this “asspple” 🙂

Andile Dyalvane’s ceramic artworks that provide a deep spiritual connection to his Xhosa ancestors, Dyalvane presents his new iNgqweji (2022) (Bird’s Nest) series. The series Inspired by the large nests of sociable weaver birds in Karoo desert.

Nilufar (Milan) presents two contemporary designers, Audrey Large, and Khaled El Mays. Large will present her collection Afterglow, which looks to define the liminal space between present and future to question the dialogue between form and technique. Initially drawn and then 3D printed, each design feels simultaneously digital and physical.

Harry Nuriev (New York, Paris) exhibites a Curio presentation featuring a world of interior and collectible furniture designs that co-exist within the physical and the Meta worlds.

A$AP Rocky launches a design studio with a sculptural piece called Shroom Cactus created in collaboration with Italian design studio Gufram.

A thin edge of seduction and the consumerism fetish is thoroughly blurred in Acosta’s art in the use of both light, and dark tones. Bold lines serve as a fashionable juxtaposition of a peaceful dream-like state and a vivid color, representing action and presence in the moment.
